Buanga Bua cibola cult figure
The many art styles of the Bena Lulua are both: utilitarian and ceremonial. The striking characteristic of their carvings is the richness and intricacy of the scarification patterns. The statues exhibit large heads, pointed coiffures, long, often scarified necks, prominent umbilicus, short legs, thick calves, and thick, large separated feet. They are wearing an apron or pelt which is up held by a belt.
